COLUMBUS, Ohio — Hot Chicken Takeover, central Ohioans’ go-to restaurant for Nashville hot chicken, closed its final location at North Market this week.

A spokesperson for the market told 10TV the restaurant's last day of operation was Friday.

North Market CEO and Executive Director Rick Wolfe wrote in a statement that Craveworthy Brands, owner of Hot Chicken Takeover, is currently in default of their lease, "owing the Market significant amounts in back rent as well as other outstanding expenses."

"Despite our attempts to communicate and resolve these issues, their corporate office has remained uncooperative. This lack of accountability and communication is deeply concerning," Wolfe said.

North Market served as the restaurant's first brick-and-mortar location more than 10 years ago.
