RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Local leaders and congregants of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church broke ground Sunday morning on a new community for low-income individuals.
56 units are being built in “Greenway Village.” They will be available for people earning between 40-60% of the area median income.
The units are going right behind the catholic church.
“They have said ‘yes, we want families thriving in our backyard’, ”Jay Brown, CEO of Commonwealth Catholic Charities, said.
The church is partnering with Commonwealth Catholic Charities (CCC), along with a number of other area nonprofits.
Brown said CCC and St. Elizabeth’s have been working on this project for nearly eight years.
