A helicopter pilot died after a crash on Sunday afternoon in Saint-Séverin, Que., in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. on a piece of land on Sainte-Marguerite Road.

“There was a fire following the crash. The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene,” said provincial police (SQ) spokesperson Marc Tessier.

He added that “there is no indication that there were other people on board the aircraft.”

The age of the victim is not yet known.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified of the crash.

“There will be a joint investigation to try to determine what happened,” said Tessier.
