Two days after detonating an explosive shell disovered in a garage on Riverside Drive, Tiverton police detonated another shell discovered at a vacant Main Road business Friday morning.

Police were called to 2490 Main Road just after 8:30 a.m. following a report of a potential explosive device discovered in the basement.

Police called to the scene evacuated nearby residents and businesses and, as in the previous incident, called in The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s Explosives Operations Division (EOD) unit, along with the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit from Newport.
