Authorities are searching for a 70-year-old man who failed to return home from a fishing trip in Newport, Vermont, over the weekend.

Charles Arnold, 70, was reported missing by his family around 8:45 p.m. Friday. Their last contact with him was by cellphone was around 12:30 p.m. that day, when he was fishing at Lake Memphremagog.

Authorities began searching from the South Bay Fishing Access area. Crews eventually found his kayak and his lifejacket near the South Yard area, off Glen Road, according to police.
