A Vermont man has gone missing after embarking on a solo fishing trip.

Charles Arnold, 70, had set out to fish on Friday, Sept. 19, on Lake Memphremagog's South Bay area in Vermont, according to NBC Boston , CBS affiliate WCAX and ABC affiliate WVNY .

He was last in contact with his family by cellphone around 12:30 p.m. local time, and when he failed to return home just before 9 p.m., his family contacted authorities to report him missing as an "overdue fisherman," the Newport Police Department shared on Faceb
