The annual Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock is officially underway, with 18 law enforcement officers and emergency personnel cycling 1,200 kilometres across Vancouver Island to raise money for childhood cancer research and support programs like Camp Goodtimes.

The two-week ride officially began Saturday in Port Alice, where the team was greeted by a warm and enthusiastic community. The riders will make their way down the Island, stopping at schools, businesses and local events before wrapping up in Victoria on Oct. 3.
