Two Vancouver Island wood-product manufacturing companies are getting a cut of B.C.’s $2.5-million boost going to nine companies in the province.

The province’s BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund (BCMJF) is contributing funds to nine wood-product manufacturing businesses to plan or complete capital projects.

Among the nine companies is Chemainus-based Canadian Bavarian Millwork and Lumber Ltd., receiving $1.4 million towards a new facility build and equipment upgrades.

The hefty investment also goes towards “training for current staff on state-of-the art, AI-enabled features of new machinery, laying the groundwork for long-term growth and innovation,” states the Ministry of Forests.
