CONWAY, SC (WMBF) -About one hundred Coastal Carolina University students lined up at the Horry County Animal Care Center in Conway for the chance to take a dog home.
The shelter which has been overcrowded, opened the kennels for the enthusiastic scholars to take a pup for “doggy day out.”
Ty Bell and his roommate picked up a Pitbull mix for the weekend.
“We just want to give this dog a good time. We know they probably don’t see it as much,” he said.
Morgan Cook and Caroline Schneider, students at CCU, say they were inspired to take action after seeing a story about the overcrowding issues at the shelter.
“We are President and Vice President of the pre-veterinary club. We got together to plan this event to try to get as many pups adopted as we could,” said Cook.
