NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — People gathered Sunday in Niagara Falls to honor Charlie Kirk, the Turning Point USA CEO who was assassinated in Utah on Sept. 10, joining memorials taking place across the nation.

Organizers said the event allows Western New Yorkers who could not attend Kirk’s funeral in Arizona to pay tribute locally.

"This is about the memory — the memory and the legacy — that Charlie gave to carry forward. It's not about right, left, blue, white, liberal. It's not about any of that. We're all human. We're all God's children, and now is the time to come together as such," one organizer said.

The gathering included a vigil and continued at 7 p.m. with a walk across the Rainbow Bridge, uniting participants with those in Canada who have also been impacted by Kirk’s death.
