HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Puerto Rican pride was on full display in Hartford Sunday for the city's Puerto Rican Day parade and festival.

Thousands of participants and spectators made their way along Park Street, with the parade kicking off at noon.

"I'm Boricua. I'm here. I've got to celebrate," one spectator said.

Albert Rodriquez says it's his first year back after missing the last few years, but the energy is just how he remembers it.

"We swing our Puerto Rican flags. We’re proud of our culture. We stick together, Rodriquez said.

Connecticut state leaders including Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D) came out to show their support as well.

Other notable participants include members of the armed forces, marine, police, fire crews and even local schools.
