PHOENIX — A memorial for Charlie Kirk at Glendale's State Farm Stadium on Sunday brought Republican leaders from throughout the country to mourn the loss of the conservative activist.
More than 200,000 people were expected to attend the memorial service based on registrations to the Turning Point USA website, a Glendale police spokesperson told CNN. The stadium has a fixed capacity of about 63,000 people and Desert Diamond Arena was planned to serve as an overflow site for the large crowds.
Kirk, 31, was assassinated on a Utah college campus earlier this month and his body was transported back to Arizona where Kirk's family lived. Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with killing Kirk.
