CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — Blewett Pass will remain closed through early Monday, Sept. 22, due to heightened fire danger. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced the closure Sunday, citing unsafe conditions linked to the Labor Mountain fire. WSDOT said the situation will be reassessed before the roadway reopens Monday.

The closure comes as the Labor Mountain Fire continues to grow. As of Sunday, the fire had reached approximately 7,618 acres and was only 7% contained, according to InciWeb . The blaze, burning in steep and rugged terrain, has prompted evacuations and disrupted travel across the region.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 3 evacuation order Sunday for residents in the areas of Shaser Creek Road, Culver Creek Road and King Creek Road.
