While institutions and corporations continue to feel the full weight of the federal government's attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion, another problem is being ignored: widespread racism against Black people is spreading across the country. This is not fiction.

An important but ignored Gallup poll published last month revealed 64% of people nationally believe racism against Black people is rampant, the highest since 2008.

According to the poll, “Non-Hispanic Black adults continue to be the most likely to say such racism is prevalent in the country, with 83% expressing this view. Smaller majorities of Hispanic (64%) and non-Hispanic White adults (61%) agree.”

Gallup, which has been an important barometer for measuring the socioeconomic and political temperature of the nation, noted
