CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- There was a sea of orange and blue Sunday morning in Urbana.
It's officially Homecoming Week at the University of Illinois. It all kicked off at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center with a record breaking 400 runners participating in the Homecoming 5K.
The U of I Alumni Association President said that it's not just the fun events and the big game making U of I's Homecoming so special, though.
"The myth or lore has it that Illinois has the longest, continuous Homecoming in the country. So, we have been around as the Alumni Association for right around 150 years. I don't know that Homecoming dates back quite that far, but we have the longest, continuous Homecoming in the country.
