CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- A Champaign County man is facing kidnapping and sexual abuse charges after allegedly taking a 12-year-old family member out of school, claiming that he planned to take them to the doctor, but instead bringing them to a rural area.

The Champaign County Sheriff's Office said Esteban Jesus-Sebastian picked up his family member from school at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday and brought them to rural Mahomet.

This caused the child to become frightened, the sheriff's office said. The child asked to be taken home. When Jesus-Sebastian refused, the child asked to be let out of the car. And when he refused again, the child attempted to escape from the vehicle when it stopped. That's when the child said Jesus-Sebastian inappropriately touched them.
