The Gilcrease Museum will open a portion of its new facility to the public for the first time Oct. 11, when it hosts the Gilcrease Family Festival.

The festival, set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that Saturday, will feature music, art-making activities and the opportunity to explore part of the museum’s state-of-the-art new facility.

Demolition of the old museum building was completed in January 2022 to make way for the $141 million museum project, funded with more than $90 million from the city and $49 million in private donations. Construction won’t be 100% complete for at least another year , but the museum in the interim will host events such as the Gilcrease Family Festival to invite the public back into the museum’s fold.
