A Brisbane man who killed his partner four years ago had previously stabbed another woman in an "almost identical" domestic violence attack, a court has heard.

The violent criminal history of Alexander O'Sachy was revealed at his sentencing hearing in Brisbane, for the manslaughter of Angela Godwin.

O'Sachy was originally charged with Ms Godwin's murder at their Upper Mount Gravatt home in September 2021.

The 47-year-old was due to face trial in July this year, but several weeks earlier he pleaded guilty to the downgraded offence.
