Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a crisp and cool Monday morning, with temperatures sitting at 58 degrees on Clinton Place in Newark’s South Ward at 4:30 a.m.

If you’re stepping out early for work or catching the bus, a jacket is recommended, though you’ll likely be able to shed it as the day warms up.

Today marks not only the start of a new week but also the close of summer, with fall officially arriving at 2:19 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions will remain pleasant throughout the day.

Skies are expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 76 degrees and light winds shifting south by the afternoon.

Tonight, partly cloudy skies will linger, with lows dipping to around 61 degrees.
