HOUSTON (KIAH) — Repairs are officially set to begin today on a beloved hike and bike bridge located in the Heights. The Market Bridge, situated near Hogan Street, has been closed to the public for several months now, and part of the bridge has already been demolished.

The closure was initiated after an incident where construction equipment malfunctioned, resulting in a collision with the bridge. This brought to light structural problems within the bridge's framework.

In July, the Houston City Council took action, approving over $1.1 million to fully reconstruct the bridge. The project is anticipated to take three months to complete.
