HOUSTON (KIAH) — Repairs are set to begin on a popular hike and bike bridge in the Heights.
The MKT bridge near Hogan Street has been shuttered for months. Part of the bridge is already demolished.
It was closed after construction equipment from a project by the Texas Department of Transportation broke loose and slammed into the bridge. That incident highlighted structural issues with the bridge.
In July, Houston City Council approved more than $1.1 million to reconstruct it, a project that is expected to take about three months.
