She is an elite athlete, and now the best in the United States. But as a new mom, Christine Fox can also sometimes forget her own name.

Fox, 34, a Reno attorney, has been a professional pole sport athlete for several years. In July she won the U.S. national champion in two categories of pole sport — artistic aerial pole, 30-plus; and artistic pole, senior women 30-plus.

Next, she is headed to the world championships at the end of October in Buenos Aires.

She now uses her married name, Fox, but it is still taking some getting used to. She answers the phone "Christine Hotchkin," then quickly realizes her mistake.

“The name change thing, it’s not as simple as I thought it was going to be,” Fox said, laughing.
