OTTAWA, Kan. (KCTV) - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents near Ottawa to be alert for a man they say was involved in an aggravated assault Sunday evening.
Neighbors of Lester Caleb, 54, called the police around 7:22 p.m. on Sept. 21, to report that he was firing a gun on his property. They said they called to check on him, and he threatened them.
A deputy arrived at the property and reported that two shots were fired at him, but he was not hit by either.
A tactical response from multiple agencies was called in to the property, including a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter. Caleb’s neighbors were evacuated from the area.
After a “thorough and methodical search,” Caleb was not found.
Authorities do not believe there is an active threat to the community, but say Caleb
