HARTFORD TWP., Ohio - The state fire marshal was on the scene looking for the cause of an early morning fire in Trumbull County.
Fire crews from both sides of the state line were sent out after dispatchers got a call just after 4:30 a.m. that a barn was on fire on Thompson Sharpsville Road in Hartford Township.
The first firefighter to arrive found that the flames had spread throughout the structure, and crews worked to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.
Firefighters from Brookfield, Burghill, and Fowler in Trumbull County, as well as Orwell in Ashtabula County, and the Sharpsville Fire Department in Pennsylvania were called out.
Fire department tankers hauled water to the scene of the blaze.
Crews were cautioned that there may be shotgun shells inside the building.
