EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A 17-year-old girl is recovering Monday morning after she was shot in the shoulder on Manhattan's East side.
The shooting happened Sunday evening near the intersection of East 27th and Park.
At the same time and just a block away, police got a call about a stabbing at 28th and Madison.
A 24-year old man was knifed in the back.
His attacker got away.
Eyewitnesses say it happened quickly.
"It looked like a fight, like a physical fight or altercation or brawl that way," a witness said. "And then I see people running this way towards this side of the street. And then I think I heard what sounded like gunshots."
The teen girl is expected to survive.
It's unclear if the stabbing and shooting are related.
Police have not yet made any arrests.
