TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The race for mayor of Tallahassee is heating up with three “heavy-hitters” vying for the position.

Just this morning, former Florida senator and representative Loranne Ausley announced she is running for Tallahassee City Commission Seat 4/Mayor. She officially filed her paperwork on Friday with the Leon County Supervisor of Elections’ Office.

Loranne Ausley’s political career stretches more than 20 years in Florida. Her first political win came in 2000, when she was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, serving until 2008. After returning to the House in 2016 and winning re-election in 2018, she successfully ran for the Florida Senate in 2020. She served one term there before losing her re-election bid to political newcomer and republican Corey Simon
