ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Average gas prices in Roanoke have risen nine cents per gallon in the last week , averaging $2.86 per gallon Monday, September 22, according to Gasbuddy ’s survey of 155 stations.

Prices in the Star City are up 11.2 cents per gallon, lower than a month ago, and one cent per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has gone up 0.7 cents than a week ago, sitting at $3.67 per gallon, said Gasbuddy.

The most cost-effective station in Roanoke was priced at $2.59 per gallon as of Sunday, September 21, while the priciest station came at $3.09 per gallon, a $0.50 different per gallon. The lowest price of gas per gallon recorded in Virginia as of Sunday was at $2.56 while the highest was at $3.79, a $1.23 difference.
