Michelle Dockery has revealed the final Downton Abbey film may have had an alternate ending .
The actress reprised her role as Lady Mary Crawley alongside Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern for the final instalment.
Downton Abbey first aired in 2010, becoming a beloved franchise and running for six seasons as well as two previous films.
The finale paid tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, who died at the age of 89 in September last year.
Her character, The Dowager Countess, was written off by her death in the 2022 film, Downton Abbey: A New Era, though her legacy was honoured in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.
