The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and the Vanderburgh County Fire Department have partnered to simplify DUI enforcement.
This will reduce the inconvenience for drivers.
Under a newly executed Memorandum of Understanding, certified paramedics with the Vanderburgh County Fire Department will be authorized to perform evidentiary blood draws in certain impaired driving investigations.
Sheriff Noah Robinson explained that the partnership will improve both efficiency and fairness by sparing motorists unnecessary trips to jail or the hospital.
Probable cause or consent must be established before a sample is collected.
