Sound Transit on Monday morning has again closed its Link light rail service between downtown Seattle’s Westlake Station and the University District Station due to a ventilation issue, two days after a similar disruption affected the service.
Shuttle buses are replacing trains between those two stations. Capitol Hill and University of Washington stations are closed.
Sound Transit issued the service alert around 4:20 a.m. Monday.
The agency has faced numerous disruptions to its Link light rail this year due to ventilation problems.
Sound Transit spokesperson Henry Bendon said Saturday that regulations require a shutdown if any part of the fire-life-safety systems, such as ventilation fans, aren’t working.
On August, the light rail closed for hours twice due to ventilation problems.
