CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Runners came together for the third annual Leah’s Legacy 5K run.

It’s an event to honor Leah Strickland, a student who lost her life in a car accident in 2022.

This 5K is held in her honor every year to raise funds for the Leah’s Legacy Scholarship.

Strickland was involved in multiple sports at Herbert Hoover High School and was very team-oriented.

The scholarship is for senior athletes who embody the same characteristics as Leah.

For details on how a student athlete can apply for the scholarship, go to the Leah’s Legacy website or Facebook page .
