HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Fall arrived officially at 2:19 on Monday afternoon. Typical of this year of extreme weather, it only took a few hours before thunderstorms (armed with tornado warnings in few areas) brought drought relieving downpours accompanied by crashing thunder and vivid lightning.
While Doppler radar showed some prominent circular signatures, no tornadoes were reported in northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio where the alerts went out. Still, torrents of rain, strong winds in spots and a flurry of lightning strikes accompanied the squalls that crossed the region. Reports in southwest Scioto County near Buena Vista had winds strong enough to down trees. The tornado warning there was eerily like the alert back in August of 2014.
