DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Community members stood with a grieving mother on Saturday to fight for justice for her 21-year-old son, who was killed earlier this year.
After a man admitted to killing her son, Malachi Mitchell, who was found shot dead in a car during a January traffic stop, the Douglas County district attorney announced no charges would be filed. The driver, who was stopped for a traffic violation, drove around with Mitchell's lifeless body in the passenger seat.
The district attorney stated that the driver acted in self-defense, but Malachi Mitchell's mother, Kenya Mitchell, believes otherwise.
"We feel as though someone who shoots someone in the back of the head four times has to be held accountable. That does not sound like self-defense to me," his mother, Kenya Mitchell,
