The prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann was seen partying in a nightclub less than 48 hours after being freed from prison.

Christian Brueckner, 49, was spotted in a disco, allegedly drinking after opting to stride out into his new town.

It was reported, however, the sex offender's cover was blown after he walked into a shop at a main railway station and women inside the area began to scream, a source claimed to the Mirror .

The insider said: "Brueckner is famous in Germany now so the women in the shop instantly recognised him and started screaming.

"Brueckner pulled up his trousers to show his ankle tag and started saying, 'I'm innocent, I'm innocent'. No-one in this town wants him here, it's just creating a problem for everybody."
