Shillong, Sept 22: The Assam Rifles today paid solemn tributes to Nb Sub Shyam Gurung, who made the supreme sacrifice during an ambush at Nambol Sabal Leikei, Bishnupur, Manipur on September 19, 2025.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held in Shillong, where Vikas Lakhera, Director General Assam Rifles, laid a wreath and met the bereaved family, conveying heartfelt condolences on behalf of all ranks of Assam Rifles.

The ceremony was attended by family members, Assam Rifles personnel, and locals who gathered in large numbers to honour Gurung's courage, valour, and selfless service to the nation.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony, Gurung's cremation was held at his residence in Shillong.
