NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - A woman from Natchitoches has been arrested after a person was killed in a hit-and-run, according to the Natchitoches Police Department.

NPD responded on September 21, around 12:05 p.m., to the 1200 block of Texas Street regarding a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. Officers found Nekedra Rainey, 44, of Natchitoches, lying on the ground. She was taken to a medical center, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

Witnesses identified the vehicle as a blue Nissan Sentra. Police located the driver soon after. Kadaija Jackson, 24, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and hit and run. She was placed in the LaSalle Corrections / Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
