TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Dozens gathered at the old Florida Capitol Sunday evening to honor people facing deportation.

Organizers said they are standing against the wrongful detention of immigrants.

“We believe that this is our cause to do, this is something that we are mandated to do,” said Bryan Stringer, an organizer.

Stringer said they want to spread peace across the nation.

“If I can hold your hand, you can hold my hand, I believe we could lift a whole lot more than I could by myself,” he said.

Leaders spoke of the current state of the nation and called detention centers like Alligator Alcatraz “inhumane and unjust.”

Organizers added that they want to emphasize unity across the U.S.
