BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Sometimes we buy things, like paint, that we don’t fully use and then they sit and go bad. To cure this problem and help recycle usable items, Bismarck opened its re-use room inside the Household Hazardous Waste center at the Bismarck landfill about 20 years ago.
This is where city staff stack and organize pesticides, paint, stains, cleaners and more for others to come and grab for free.
City residents, such as Lisa Thompson, are big fans of the program.
“This is great. You can get rid of junk, so you have room for more junk. And it’s expensive to live, and if somebody can use it, and not have to pay a lot, if it helps them, that’s great,” said Thompson.
