MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) - Berkeley Middle School was on hold Monday morning as administrators and law enforcement tracked down a loaded weapon.
Berkeley County School District spokesperson Katie Tanner says that the school was tipped off that a student may have a weapon on campus.
This led to the hold, which allowed administrators and law enforcement to isolate the student and confiscate a loaded firearm without incident.
Tanner says all procedures were followed and no students were harmed. She also says this is now a law enforcement matter.
