NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department has arrested a man accused of firing a gun at his girlfriend in the early hours of Monday morning.

Matthew James Rawcliffe, 40, of North Charleston is charged with attempted murder and having a weapon during a violent crime.

Police say these charges stem from an incident at 4:30 a.m. in which they responded to an apartment on Rolling Fork Road.

The victim told police that she and Rawcliffe had been arguing when he chased her up the stairs and fired a gun at her. Rawcliffe reportedly missed and the two began to struggle. The victim said she was able to wrestle the gun away from him.
