JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A school bus crash occurred Monday morning on Illinois Route 37 at Foxcroft Drive involving a Johnston City School District bus.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office stated the bus was carrying about 30 students and was stopped to make a left turn when it was hit from behind by a black Nissan SUV driven by Michael Redmon of Pittsburg, Illinois.
Slick road conditions from heavy rain contributed to the crash, county officials added.
Multiple units from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Williamson County Fire Department, and United EMS responded to the scene. Johnston City School Superintendent Josh Pietrantoni and other school officials were also present.
Several children were taken to area hospitals for evaluation of minor injuries as a precaution.
