A new billboard honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk went up Monday morning in DeSoto County, with its first display appearing on I-55 near the Landers Center.

The signs were funded by conservatives and community members who wanted Kirk’s influence recognized publicly in the county. The efforts follow the Hernando Board of Aldermen’s recent decision to reject a proposal to honor Kirk within the city.

In response, supporters organized a campaign to fund the billboards and banners, saying they wanted to ensure Kirk’s message was not overlooked.

Kirk, through his work with Turning Point USA, inspired and mentored young conservatives across the country, including students in Hernando and DeSoto County. One student spoke about his impact during this week’s board of aldermen meeting.
