Four people have been arrested after a number of Greenpeace UK activists climbed England's largest gas-fired power station , located in Nottinghamshire , to protest rising gas prices. The eight individuals have been pictured at the top of two 75-metre-high chimney stacks at Staythorpe Power Station in Newark .
The protest took place throughout today (Monday, September 22) and aimed to expose "the role expensive gas plays in setting electricity prices and pushing up bills". The activists climbed the chimney stacks using the maintenance ladder rungs and stood on gantries displaying a banner reading "The great gas rip off: now on!"
