LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One person was killed Sunday after an explosion at an AAK facility in Shively.
The Louisville and Shively fire departments were called to a fire alarm sounding in the 2500 block of 7th Street Rd. just after 12:30 p.m.
Shively Fire Chief Col. Charles Mucker said the departments received information that there was a possible explosion.
When crews arrived at the facility, they found no visible fire. They were led by plant personnel to the area where an explosion was caused by a Hydrogen tank conversion process.
Mucker said one victim was found dead from the explosion. The explosion was isolated to the exterior of the structure.
