Mayor Eric Adams and First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro touted the economic benefits of casinos on Monday, hours before a committee voted down Manhattan’s final casino bid.
A Community Advisory Committee voted not to advance the application for Freedom Plaza, a proposed casino near the United Nations headquarters in Midtown East.
Last week, separate advisory committees voted against proposed casinos in Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen. In an interview with “Mornings On 1” Monday, Adams said he was “surprised” that those two proposals had been rejected.
The mayor has made casinos a centerpiece of his economic vision.
