Netflix's chief, Ted Sarandos, has lavished praise on Meghan Markle, labelling her biopic with Prince Harry about their decision to step back from the Royal Family as "successful in every measure."

His remarks on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast are the first time the Netflix boss has publicly commented on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since they renewed a deal with the streaming giant.

Mr Sarandos's effusive comments about Meghan also follow the second season of her cooking show, With Love, which failed to attract a broad audience. In the podcast, Netflix's CEO lauded Meghan for having "remarkable influence" and commended her ability to sell out consumer goods featured in her show as he reiterated his support for the contentious couple.
