GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a house fire after receiving reports of flames coming from the attic.

The blaze happened around 9:09 p.m., Saturday on the 2700 block of Lexington Court. When crews arrived, they found the occupants evacuated and were trying to battle the fire with a garden hose.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and checked for hot spots hidden in the walls and roof.

Two dogs evacuated with the occupants, but one of them ran back into the home during firefighting operations, according to GJFD. Crews later found the canine safe in the basement. No injuries were reported.
