WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- If cooler temps, brilliant foliage, and everything pumpkin spice are your things, we hear you.
Call it autumn. Call it fall. Call it here.
You may know that fall begins on a certain date each year, but did you know that it begins at a certain time?
Yep.
Astronomical fall starts on Sept. 22, 2025 in the Northern Hemisphere...at 2:19 p.m. That specific time signals the Fall/Autumnal Equinox, which the National Weather Service (NWS) explains is "the time at which our Sun is directly over the Earth's equator."
NWS adds that the Northern Hemisphere will keep tiliting farther from the Sun through the Winter Solstice, which is Dec. 21.
