TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Starting a business can be challenging, especially for those facing financial obstacles. However, a Florida State University program has returned for a second year in hopes of changing that.
The Leon Entrepreneurship and Adversity Program (LEAP), offered through FSU’s Jim Moran Institute, supports entrepreneurs in Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties. The program provides mentorship and training in business fundamentals, including marketing and financial management.
Candace Johnson, owner of Sunshine Hair Studio in Tallahassee, said the 10-month program helped her grow her business.
“Sometimes starting a business can be very overwhelming,” Johnson said. “I had the talent, but didn’t have all the business components to make a business thrive.”
