Hatinder Sharma will get a chance to strike his murder plea in Sudbury court on Oct. 17.

On March 10, Sharma pleaded guilty to second-degree murder concerning the death of his wife, Kanika Arora, 27, in 2022.

He has since changed his mind, wants to recant his plea and go to trial.

Sharma’s lawyer, Uma Kamcharla, told a Sudbury court last week she would file materials related to Sharma’s motion by Monday. Kamcharla said she is a bit behind because of a leg injury she is dealing with.

Justice Alex Kurke granted the request.

“There is no issue by the late filing, provided the Crown can respond by Oct. 7,” noted assistant Crown attorney Alayna Jay.

A Punjabi interpreter assisted the court with translation while Sharma’s matter was being discussed.
